Fiscal Sponsorship and Grant Assistance

Empowering the North Okanogan Valley to thrive, HCSC champions economic vitality, lifelong learning, and cultural enrichment. Through visionary support for artistic, recreational, and environmental initiatives, we create vibrant spaces and opportunities that uplift individuals, strengthen communities, and inspire local businesses to flourish.

HCSC can help other groups and organizations meet their community goals through fiscal sponsorships and grant assistance.

Fiscal Sponsorship

If you are interested in a fiscal sponsorship, please contact HCSC to explore whether the proposed program or project is consistent with HCSC's mission (highlighted above) and to discuss what a fiscal sponsorship is and whether this relationship with HCSC can further your goals.

Nonprofits (including small groups and individuals) often seek a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor for several reasons:

  • Tax Deductibility: Fiscal sponsorship allows nonprofits to receive tax-deductible contributions from donors, even if they are not yet recognized as tax-exempt by the IRS. This is crucial for nonprofits that need to raise funds quickly during the start-up phase.
  • Administrative Efficiency: Fiscal sponsors handle the administrative tasks of receiving and administering charitable contributions, freeing up nonprofit staff to focus on their mission.
  • Compliance: Fiscal sponsors ensure that the nonprofit adheres to IRS regulations and other compliance requirements, which is essential for maintaining tax-exempt status.
  • Access to Resources: Nonprofits can leverage the resources and expertise of the fiscal sponsor, including financial management, donor management, and legal support, to enhance their operations.
  • Cost-Effectiveness: Fiscal sponsorship can reduce costs associated with forming and managing a nonprofit, such as legal fees and compliance costs, allowing more funds to be allocated to the nonprofit's mission.

By seeking a fiscal sponsor, nonprofits can streamline their fundraising efforts, improve their operational efficiency, and ensure compliance with tax regulations, all while maintaining the potential for tax-deductible contributions.

Grant Support

HCSC offers coaching, guidance, and a detailed application review to help with grants as well. HCSC looks to assist with grants that can increase the well-being of our community. If you are aware of a grant opportunity that you would like to pursue with the assistance of HCSC, please follow these steps:

  • Review the grant to ensure that it applies to our community. All grant requirements must be capable of being met. Review its deadline requirements. Quick turnarounds on grant submissions are only achievable with significant participation on your part. The earlier HCSC is aware of the grant, the more effectively we can help you.
  • Write a short summary describing how the grant would help our community and present it to the HCSC board at our monthly General Meeting, held the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 5:00 pm at The Art Center and Gallery, 1412 Main Street, Oroville, WA.

Because HCSC does not draft grant applications for other organizations, the grant sponsor is an active participant in the process. Feel free to CONTACT HCSC for further assistance.
